Dr. Aletha Williams

Program Manager, Training

Aletha Williams, Ph.D., is the Program Manager, Training at Parent Teacher Home Visits, bringing a rich and dynamic career in education to her role.  She previously served as a Lecturer and Site Coordinator for Texas Tech University’s accelerated TechTeach educator preparation program in Houston ISD, guiding teacher candidates toward certification and success.  A former high school science teacher for 18 years, Aletha’s passion for STEM education stems from her personal experience of not having teachers of color to inspire her.  She has served in multiple leadership roles, including Science Department Chair, Campus Instructional Technologist, Credit Recovery Coordinator, and Data Analyst, across various Texas school districts, including Borger, Garland, Spring, Houston, and Katy ISD.  In 2021, she was named STEM Alumni of the Year by her university for her impactful work in science education.  She founded Katy ISD’s Equity 4 All affinity group to increase teacher diversity and address equity issues.  She was a TED-Ed Innovative Fellow and speaker, focusing on literacy and project-based learning for emergent bilinguals.  Aletha was a TeachPlus Policy Fellow, TED-Ed Advisory Board member, former Education Policy Fellow at Texas Tech University, and an EdTrust Policy Fellow.  She holds degrees in Biochemistry, Biology Education, Educational Technology and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, emphasizing STEM Education and Policy.

PTHV advances student success and school improvement by leveraging relationships, research, and a national network of partners to advance evidence-based practices in relational home visits within a comprehensive family engagement strategy.
