Dr. Andrea Prejean is a passionate advocate for educators, family-school-community engagement, and equity. As Executive Director of PTHV, she brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership. 

Prior to joining PTHV, Dr. Prejean served as the Director of Teacher Quality at the National Education Association (NEA), leading a team of 15 to provide technical assistance to educators nationwide. Before that, she was the Associate Director of Education Policy and Practice and Senior Policy Analyst for STEM at NEA. Her background also includes teaching in public schools in Brevard County, Florida, and serving as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Science Education at American University. 

Dr. Prejean’s commitment to family engagement is evident in her leadership of NEA’s Priority Schools Campaign. This initiative focused on fostering collaboration among school staff, parents, families, and community and union leaders to provide crucial support for struggling schools. Her work highlights the importance of building strong partnerships to enhance educational outcomes. This work contributed directly to the establishment of NEA’s current Community Schools Initiative. 

As a board member of the National Association of Family School Community Engagement (NAFSCE) and a member of the Center for Family Math Steering Committee, Dr. Prejean continues to champion family-centered education. Her dedication to creating supportive learning environments that nurture students and families was recognized with the 2016 Jocelyn Graves Award from PTHV. 

Dr. Prejean holds an Ed.D. from the University of Central Florida, specializing in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
