2022 Annual Home Visit Tallies
Good News! See How Parent Teacher Home Visits Have Grown
During the 2021-22 school year, educators from 401 school sites across the United States—and Canada—conducted 30,168 Parent Teacher Home Visits. What’s more, we’re thrilled to announce we trained 2,390 new teachers and school staff in the PTHV model. Our national network spans 28 states in the U.S. and Washington, DC, and we welcomed Saskatchewan Schools into the fold. This marks our first year as an international organization. We release figures from our annual network census each year, tallying the growth and scale of our home visiting model nationwide. We’ve been delighted to report continuous growth in the number of home visits conducted, even throughout the pandemic. This year’s home visit total is 13 percent greater than the previous school year.
As we see it, this growth represents a real hunger for connection and a commitment by school and district leaders to building relationships of trust with families in service of student success.
Today’s schools have a much more profound understanding of families’ critical role in education. In the coming school year, schools will rely on families to tackle the challenges around learning recovery. And yet we also know that families are always essential partners, whether in a crisis or not.
We also conduct this annual tally to celebrate the educators and families committed to building relationships of trust with one another. And we also want to highlight the bold leadership of unions, community organizations, advocates and policymakers, and others who enable this practice. We see all of you, and we applaud your remarkable results.
