Implementation Support

Recent studies validate what home visit educators and families have known all along – home visits that focus on building authentic relationships and mutual trust significantly strengthen school-family relationships, improve teaching, and bolster student outcomes.

But what if you could implement home visits in such a way that all students realize these benefits?

In a study examining the impact of PTHV home visits, researchers from Johns Hopkins University found that PTHV has a positive impact for all students in a school when implemented with at least 10% of the student population; systematic implementation resulted in students – regardless of receiving a visit – having 22% lower odds of being chronically absent and 35% higher odds of scoring proficient on standardized English Language Arts assessments.

Decades of accumulated wisdom and experience point to the practical importance of strong system conditions and infrastructure to achieve this level of implementation.  In addition to a curated compilation of research-backed resources and tools, PTHV offers a full scope of additional services and implementation supports that are tailored to meet the unique needs and opportunities of each school or district, including:

  • Coaching, consultation, and professional learning for leaders looking to launch, grow, and sustain a thriving home visit practice
  • Ongoing learning opportunities for home visit educators looking to deepen their home visit practice

Description: Post-visit reflection is a PTHV non-negotiable practice. Whole group debrief sessions extend the post-visit reflection practice by creating a safe space for participants to engage in productive, transparent dialogue and collective sense-making. These structured sessions allow home visit practitioners to systematically build self-awareness, capture lessons learned and consolidate learning, and inform future actions. Participants will be refreshed on the model, share effective implementation strategies, and celebrate successes. Additionally, participants will explore how PTHVs have changed their mindsets about students and families as well as how they might change or adapt their home visit practice and classroom instruction based on their learning experiences.
