Our Annual Impact: Celebrating Progress Amid Change

We’re pleased to share the results of our annual network-wide census, highlighting the impact and reach of Parent Teacher Home Visits during the 2024-25 school year. This year’s data tells a nuanced story—one of resilience, strategic growth, and the enduring commitment of educators and families to build meaningful connections.

The Numbers

Educators and school staff nationwide conducted 30,662 home visits this school year, building bridges between schools and families in communities across the country. We trained 3,147 educators in the PTHV model, sustaining last year’s strong momentum. Most notably, our network expanded to 424 school sites—a 22% increase that reflects growing recognition of home visits as a high-impact family engagement strategy. We also welcomed three new locations: Alaska, Indiana, and New Jersey.

Navigating Challenges with Creativity

The current educational landscape has many school systems making difficult decisions about resource allocation, and we expected that reality to affect the number of visits school staff were able to make. Two of our largest implementing districts experienced significant funding reductions that affected their programs. Similar pressures impacted other communities in the Midwest and on the West Coast.

However, this challenge has sparked innovation. School districts across our network have found creative and sustainable ways to fund home visit programs—strategies we’re documenting and ready to share. If your district is exploring how to launch or sustain home visits despite tight budgets, we encourage you to reach out. Our team offers consultation on funding approaches that have proven successful, from strategic resource reallocation to community partnerships and competitive grant opportunities.

Bright Spots and New Beginnings

Amid these challenges, several districts demonstrated impressive growth. Detroit, Washoe County, and Cajon Valley all expanded their home visit programs. We’re especially excited to welcome Jersey’s iLearn system, where 500 visits took place across 21 school sites in their inaugural year—a testament to strong implementation from the start.

What This Means for the Future

The 22% increase in school sites adopting PTHV, coupled with steady educator training numbers, represents significant progress. These are leading indicators—schools building the capacity and infrastructure that will drive expanded impact in future years. While budget constraints have created near-term headwinds, the growth in sites implementing PTHV signals a movement gaining strength and breadth.

Every home visit represents an investment in relationships that transcend classroom walls. They’re conversations about hopes and dreams, moments of genuine connection, and opportunities for educators to truly see and understand the students they serve. As one educator recently shared, “These visits changed everything about how I teach. I see my students differently now—more completely, more hopefully.”

The work continues. If you’re interested in bringing Parent Teacher Home Visits to your school or district, or if you want to learn about creative funding strategies, contact us at info@pthvp.org.
