SACRAMENTO, Calif. (August 11, 2026) — The Board of Directors of Parent Teacher Home Visits (PTHV) has named Rachel Brice Interim Executive Director, effective today. Brice, the organization’s Program Director since 2021, has led PTHV’s training and district support work for the past five years and brings more than 25 years of experience across public education and social services.

“Rachel brings an extraordinary depth of strategic clarity, operational rigor, and deep field credibility to this role,” said Shital C. Shah, PTHV Board Chair. “We are delighted to have Rachel step into this role, and our partners in districts around the country will benefit tremendously from the unwavering standards she has held us to as she guides this next chapter.”

Since joining PTHV, Brice has directed the multiyear redesign of PTHV’s signature training, certified the national trainer corps to deliver the updated curriculum, and built the continuing professional education for PTHV trainers. She also designed the system of support that carries a district from a first round of training into a durable practice, with readiness planning, coaching for district leads, and tools for tracking implementation. 

Through Brice, PTHV holds a seat in coalitions and partnerships, including S-TAC, California’s statewide hub supporting the California Community Schools Partnership Program, and the California Family Engagement Network, both of which extend the organization’s reach into state and national conversations about how schools work with families.

“Stepping into this role is a great honor,” said Brice. “It requires a commitment to stewarding our strategic partnerships, and ensuring our team has the resources and the roadmap to guide our work in training teachers to effectively partner with families,” Brice said. 

“Every role I have held, from school social worker to community schools supervisor to this one, has come back to the same conviction: families hold expertise about their own children, and schools that build on that expertise get better results for students. Our trainers and our partner districts have carried this work for nearly three decades, and I look forward to what’s on the horizon.”

Before joining PTHV, Brice spent more than 20 years working with families, educators, service providers, and system leaders to advance educational equity, strengthen partnerships, and create systems where every child can thrive. She oversaw community schools implementation for Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida, expanding the strategy from two sites to eight in two years and bringing PTHV training to roughly 80 educators across three additional schools. Earlier, as a grants and research coordinator for the same district, she secured more than $10 million for projects aimed at improving outcomes for students. She served as executive director of the Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoptive and Foster Families, taught middle school mathematics, and worked as a school social worker and Title VI program coordinator. Brice earned her master’s degree in social work, with a concentration in policy and administration, from Florida State University. 

Brice succeeds Andrea Prejean, who will transition from executive director to a strategic advisory role through January 2027. In this time-limited role, Prejean will focus on identifying and advancing partnerships and other opportunities to strengthen PTHV’s mission for the future.
