Home visits between school staff and families are a proven family engagement strategy that improves student achievement, attendance, and behavior. We launched the first national PTHV Week in 2022 to kick off the 25th Anniversary of the Parent Teacher Home Visits organization, and by popular demand, we’re bringing it back for its second year with expanded focus and more ways to participate.
The goals of PTHV Week are to:
As you move toward the planning and implementation
of your school or district’s Parent Teacher Home Visits
Week, you’ll need a communications plan to help guide your way to success. A good communications plan will help build excitement and anticipation around PTHV Week. It will help you and your team engage with important audiences before, during, and after the event. It will help keep your team members acting on one accord to avoid some of the common hiccups of event planning, and it will point the way toward the strategies and tactics needed to sustain and grow your home visit practice.
Here’s a special memento to capture the hopes and dreams you discover during the home visits you conduct during national PTHV Week. A Hopes and Dreams Certificate! Home visiting educators can download copies of this certificate to present during home visits conducted during PTHV Week and beyond. This blog post contains additional ideas for how to use the certificate.
PTHV advances student success and school improvement by leveraging relationships, research, and a national network of partners to advance evidence-based practices in relational home visits within a comprehensive family engagement strategy.
PTHV is a nonprofit grassroots network that must raise its operating budget every year. Like the local home visit projects we help, our network is sustained by collaboration.
