PTHV Welcomes Two New Board Members

We are excited to introduce two new additions to the Parent Teacher Home Visits (PTHV) national board of directors, Dr. Eyal Bergman and Dr. Joe Doctor.

Dr. Eyal Bergman is a Senior Vice President at Learning Heroes, where he leads efforts to support schools and systems that want to invest in deeper and more meaningful partnerships with families. He also leads a body of research investigating the impact of family engagement on student and school outcomes. He earned his Doctor of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.) from Harvard University, which included partnering with Dr. Karen Mapp in co-authoring
the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships (Version 2). Previously, he was the founder of the Family & Community Engagement Office in the Cajon Valley Union
School District. Eyal’s work and views are shaped by his professional roots in community organizing and youth mentoring, as well as his personal upbringing in a bilingual Latino immigrant home.

Dr. Joe Doctor serves as Chief Operating Officer for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, leading strategy, program, and operations. His work on these fronts is focused on how the National Board can strengthen the professional career continuum for teachers and advance the teaching profession. He previously served as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Policy, as well as Special Assistant to the President, leading the development and implementation of the National Board’s strategic plan. He coauthored “Raising the Bar for Teaching” with Jal Mehta, arguing for adapting supports other professions have put in place as a strategy to elevate teaching. Previously, he was a manager at the Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit strategy consulting organization. His work there focused on developing breakthrough strategies for nonprofits, foundations and public school systems in K-12 education. Doctor has an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Yale University and a doctorate in education leadership from Harvard University.

We eagerly look forward to their insights, expertise, and leadership as we continue our mission to strengthen the bonds between educators, families, and students through home visits.

Join us in welcoming Dr. Joe Doctor and Dr. Eyal Bergman to the PTHV community.

PTHV advances student success and school improvement by leveraging relationships, research, and a national network of partners to advance evidence-based practices in relational home visits within a comprehensive family engagement strategy.
