PTHV's 2024 Wrapped: A Year-End Review
It’s been an exciting year for Parent Teacher Home Visits, filled with firsts, new faces, milestones and more! As 2024 draws to a close, let’s look back on some highlights.
New Year, New Faces
At the top of the year, we welcomed two new board members, Dr. Eyal Bergman, Senior Vice President at Learning Heroes; and Dr. Joe Doctor, Chief Operating Officer for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
PTHV On TV
During the spring, we were pleased to share with our network an episode of Roadtrip Nation, featuring PTHV’s former executive director, Gina Martinez-Keddy and Founding Parent, Yesenia Ramirez. Their interviews are part of a series, “Education’s Future: Teachers + Families,” in which three early-career teachers talk to people reimagining how families can be partners in supporting their children’s education.
Team PTHV Takes ATL
In May, team PTHV traveled to Atlanta, GA for the Institute for Educational Leadership’s (IEL) National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference (CSxFE). While there, we received the Civic Engagement Award, which goes to an organization that organizes youth, families and/or communities to advocate for the authentic family engagement of community schools.
National PTHV Week 2024
For the last three years, a major highlight for PTHV is celebrating National PTHV Week. This year, we celebrated in a few special ways. We kicked off the week with a webinar focused on the powerful connection between Parent Teacher Home Visits and improved student attendance.
We also unveiled a very special podcast episode, the very first in an occasional series on the impact of home visits on student success. In our inaugural episode, former PTHV Executive Director Gina Martinez-Keddy and Program Director Rachel Brice discuss the persistent challenge of chronic absenteeism in schools.
Bidding Farewell and Welcoming New Leadership
After a careful search, PTHV and friends celebrated Gina Martinez-Keddy’s bittersweet retirement as executive director, and welcomed her successor, Andrea Prejean.
How Many Home Visits?
To close out the year, we released our 2024 Annual Home Visit Tallies, which highlights the impact of our work during the 2023-24 school year.
More to Come!
As we head into 2025, we want to extend our warm gratitude to all our supporters. We can’t wait to share more stories with you!
