PTHV Week is a special observance for which we’re inviting our partnering schools and districts from across the country to celebrate 25 years of authentic trust-building home visits with us. We have designated the week of September 19 – 24 of 2022 as our inaugural National Parent Teacher Home Visits Week.
On March 23, 2022, we held a special orientation session to announce PTHV Week and to share our slate of planned activities with educators around the nation. Click on the video above to watch the session. You can access the slides here.
Our overarching vision for this week is twofold. We want to not only promote home-school partnerships at a national level, but we also want to support communities like yours to advance your local home visit practice.
We have four primary goals for PTHV Week, and these goals will shape everything that we do to commemorate this momentous occasion. Our first goal is to celebrate educators and families who prioritize building relationships of trust. We’re all about relationships. So PTHV Week is an opportunity to highlight what defines us.
Our second goal is to generate awareness and support for Parent Teacher Home Visits as an evidence-based best practice in family engagement. We’re taking a two-pronged approach: We want to do that locally as well as nationally. And, of course, it wouldn’t be PTHV Week without having our educators conduct as many home visits as possible during that week. And that’s our third goal. Our final goal is to evaluate and share the impact of our efforts, all of the planning and implementation at that local and national level.
To accomplish these goals, we are planning a wide range of activities and supports. We are planning to collaborate with national and state partners to spread the word and increase awareness, as well as create new promotional content. We’re also providing a curated toolkit of guidance and resources to help you plan and implement your local Parent Teacher Home Visits practice. These tools will cover topics ranging from communications to advocacy to evaluation, and they’re all designed to really help you plan and implement your celebration activities.
